     After being kicked to the curb in the dead of winter, and sleeping in her car behind a small airport in Tyler, Texas, in the early 2000s, Lyn knew she needed help. Proud but desperate, she turned to the only people on Earth reported to be able to "really and immediately" help a stranded soul (without making them jump through hoops of reams of Red tape) - The Salvation Army. Sure enough, all the stories she had ever heard turned out to be true: they took her in (no questions asked) and met her with a smiling face, a helping hand, a warm meal, a hot bath - and a safe place to lay her head; and she will NEVER forget their kindness!
