Short horror best-sellers March 12, 2014

This is not the first time when I am reading a book that has been written by Lyn Murray. I started with Blooded which left me with a very rewarding feeling.

After a while I decided to try B E K - Black Eyed Kids Phenomena.

Lyn's ability of creating interesting stories has not failed me. In my eyes, she is even more amazing because it's quite hard to assemble a short story, with minuscule pieces, and to make it deliver the reading experience of a much more detailed best-seller.

My favorite one is `The Dream'. It actually made feel like dreaming when trying to assimilate the intrigue and the action of this creation. And the rest of them are nothing but short horror best-sellers which will reward the reader with an unique experience.Show Less

Outstanding reading experience March 10, 2014

I wasn't expecting that this collection of short horror stories will be such rewarding: the reading experience which is offered by Lyn Murray's title is incredible, especially if you take into consideration the very decent price tag that it comes with.
All these short stories are fast paced, featuring a quite interesting script and they all look like the author has invested a lot of resources and time into developing and balancing all the characteristics which a great horror novel need to deliver.
Excellent job, Lyn!Show Less

This book changed my perception over horror stories March 9, 2014

From the beginning of this review, I have to mention the fact that I am not such a great fun of horror books. But I was recommended by my brother to read this collection of short stories. He stated that this will change my perception over horror stories.
So, I started reading B.E.K. with a bit of 'fear' in my heart, because I was not quite sure that I will enjoy this reading.
After finishing the first story (The Boy at the Door), I wasn't even aware that this book has managed to keep me so hooked. The second story was even more amazing. I ended by reading the whole book without taking any break.
I noticed one common thing in all these stories: the intrigue is so well crafted, that will raise the interest of the reader to an unusual point. The fact that the action of these stories is fast paced adds even more reading pleasure.
I highly recommend this book to all those which have not tried short horror stories until now.Show Less

good short read! March 8, 2014

Great and interesting short read. I only wish it had been longer! Perhaps more short stories can follow making it longer!

Short stories that were made to impress March 8, 2014

Usually, people are not keen to read short stories. This is maybe because everybody thinks that short stories are providing an inconsistent read; the author has not invested too much time into crafting the characters; the intrigue couldn't be very well developed etc. I was thinking in the same way but this is completely wrong.
The proof that the a/m statements are just some misconceptions is Lyn Murray's `B E K - Black Eyed Kids Phenomena'.
The intrigue inside all thess stories is very well developed. It will definitely manage to keep every reader hooked. The action is fast paced, and, all of them are leaving the reader with an unique feeling after finishing the read.
I highly recommend this collection of short horror stories.Show Less

Awesome book!!! March 8, 2014

This author has managed to capture my imagination right from the very first few pages, by including ancient myths and projecting a new future that leaves you asking for more.

It is very cleverly written and paints a very different picture about vampires and the world.

The fact that the story takes places in modern day America, makes it even more familiar and scary true.

I am definitely going to get into the series. Don't think about it, just read it. I believe a new genre is born.Show Less

Intense and exhilarating !!! March 8, 2014

I really enjoy paranormal and science fiction books, but this was something else. I really enjoyed the way it was written, enclosing facts, myths and creatures.
It is very challenging and thought provoking, especially when you get to certain points in the book that there is a big kernel of truth followed by a very real future.

I totally enjoyed it, as it is very engaging right from the start. I would definitely recommend it!!!Show Less

Short but addictive stories March 6, 2014

I have been recommended by a friend of mine to read one of Murray's 'creations'. He advised me that I should expect something uncommon but he didn't tell me that they are so addictive.
Therefore, I told to myself that I need to start with something lighter. And I choosed 'B E K - Black Eyed Kids Phenomena'. Boy...what a start!
These short stories are so addictive that my only wish, which I felt at that moment, was to read the entire book at once.
The level of intrigue and the fast paced action are definitely going to put this book in the best-sellers shelf of each passionate reader.Show Less

brilliant February 25, 2014

An excellent book that tells a brilliant story about the eternal fight between good and evil, but with a more documented and well thought plot. A strong book of the genre that I would love to see as a movie in the near future. Will follow up with the other books of the saga Nomads & Cinder

I felt overwhelmed by the uniqueness of this book February 21, 2014

I am glad that I had the opportunity to read this book. I am a huge fantasy of the fantasy genre and, in particular, of the vampires books...good vampires books, to be more precise.
Lyn Murray's 'Blooded' has felt so original...so unique. I am not sure if this is because of the story which mixes, in a perfect balance, two renowned myths (Vampires and Annunaki) or because of the fact that the narrating, the characters, the perfect bonding between drama, intrigue and action have been created in such way that they will overwhelm the reader, providing a great entertainment, in the same time.
It was a pleasure to read this book and I am keen to receive the second one of this series (hopefully, the author will release it...soon).Show Less

Oh, what an interesting and unexpected story! February 20, 2014

I was not expecting such a decently priced book to deliver such an entertaining, unique and well-crafted story.

The beginning of this book is taking the reader by surprise. It has a tremendous start and...luckily...it continues in the same way.

I am able to predict the action of most of the books just after reading a couple of pages. But this time, I was not able to guess even what the next page is going to deliver me with.

Excellent job, Lyn!Show Less

A Chilling Story February 18, 2014

"B E K - Black Eyed Kids Phenomena" is the kind of darkly chilling short story collection that sends chills down your spine and works off of the urban legend of the BEK phenomena to really set an eerie tone. Lyn Murray does and excellent job of keeping each of the stories creepy, vivid in imagery, darkly chilling and refreshingly unique. The stories are well-written with an eye for detail, a thoughtfully sinister narrative that never lets up in scaring the reader. I have to say that the whole time I was reading this collection I was disturbed and intrigued in equal measure, which when it comes to horror stories like this that is the goal. Overall, I had a great time reading this book and would definitely recommend it to other readers looking to be frightened and creeped out by the chilling writing found within each of the stories.Show Less
