Quite an interesting story January 29, 2014

From the beginning of this review, I have to admit that I am not quite a fan of vampires books, but because this particular one was recommended by a close friend, I said to myself that it is time to re-discover this genre.

Now, after reading it, I am quite satisfied with my decision. This is because the story of this title is quite unique because of the fact it manages to get out of the zone where most common vampires books are. It does that by combining classical elements which are specific for this genre, with new concepts which are (almost) unknown to the public.

The result of this mixing? A very intense and intriguing story, a fast paced action and some well researched ancient motives which make this book fun and pleasant even for those which are not what you might call `fans of the genre'.Show Less

Ancient myth in a vampires book: a rarity which nobody should miss January 28, 2014

Even though I am bit skeptical when it comes to buying vampires books (because of the commercial tendency that most of the books of this genre have), I had quite a nice surprise while reading this particular one.
The first thing which suggested me that Lyn Murray's book is delivering quite a different type of story, is related to the fact that the author has made quite an effort in researching and implanting a fabulous ancient myth in a story of this genre. Therefore, as a reader, I felt that I am reading a totally different book, compared to what I was expecting.
And the good news doesn't stop here. The characters of this book have been built with a lot of attention to all the necessary details. This makes the book even more enjoyable and adds value to the complex action of this story.
This book will definitely become a best-seller!Show Less

A thrilling read you can't put down! January 24, 2014

BEK (Black Eyed Kids Phenomenon) The Boy at the Door by Lyn Murray is, I understand, a revision of the first book that only had the one story (The Boy at the Door), was rewritten for fans; with 3 new stories added – that are absolutely thrilling!

I didn't read the first book so I can’t comment on it, but whatever revisions Murray made – she did it right!

It took me about an hour to read it the first time – I could not put it down!

I have read many books about the subject, but this one may be the creepiest of all. From the 1st story, The Boy at the Door (the knock on the door, the conversation, the way he just vanished) a kid who so reminds me of my son's best friend, who I may never let in again; to the 2nd story, The Dream (and I thought I had nightmares); then the 3rd story, ATM (a story that is singularly responsible for me deciding never to bank at night again!); to the last story, Streetlight Dead (that absolutely scared me to death!). I'm hooked!

Black-eyed kids are known for their creepy eyes, and they seem unstoppable in their insistence on entering your home or car. They may want in to use your phone, your bathroom or sell you something – but what they really want is to fill you with panic and fear, or is their motive more sinister?

At the end, Murray discusses thoughts and feelings about who the BEK's might be. Are they human? Are they alien? Are they reptiles? Are they even alive? Murray doesn’t claim to know (nobody does), but she makes it clear as crystal that they are nothing you want to be messing with.

All I can say is, if you’re looking for a good BEK book - this may be the spookiest of them all because each story (that is so well written) is based on real events. Buy the book - it's a steal at 99 cents, and filled with scares to remember!

I wish I had read the first book, it must have been pretty awful (not well written or something) because Murray apologizes to her fans, and in fact rewrote the book just for them. I’ve never heard of an author doing any thing like this. I’m impressed. A writer who actually cares about her fans enough to apologize and rewrite an entire book just to please them. WOW! While I can’t speak for others, she sure pleases me – and I’m hooked for life!

Thanks for a great read!Show Less

Not feeling it. January 16, 2014

Shorter than I expected. Print length says 16 pages? Feels more like 3 or 4 pages. Must be a huge font. Besides that her grammar is atrocious, and her rambling takes away from the atmosphere of the story. Not creepy at all, and it's questionable if this is even a story about a BEK or just a generic ghost, or just some junkie kid and a bit of unreliable narrator syndrome. Would not recommend.

At a loss for words! January 6, 2014

Like so many other reviews, I hardly know where to begin. My review isn’t going to be as well written or as eloquent as some. That alone almost kept me from writing one, but I had to get my two cents counted because this is a groundbreaking novel. I noticed one reviewer having a hard time classifying it in the vampire genre, and I agree. It is so much more than just about vampires.
When I say this novel is groundbreaking, I mean just that. Not only does it take the reader into the vampire world, it takes them into a vampire world like no other. These vampires aren’t your usual bloodsuckers, they are the beings who created us, and they’ve come home!
Really, that’s all I’m going to say, that’s pretty much all I can say. I’m speechless and I’m absolutely terrified that this is more than a novel. One reviewer said that reading it takes you down a rabbit hole. Yeah, but this rabbit hole is a bottomless pit of fact based, fear laced reality that makes you hope you’re dreaming. If I’m dreaming, I want to wake up!Show Less

A Riveting Saga That Will Devour Your Senses; A Chilling Playground for the Mind! January 6, 2014

An Astonishing, mind bending read! Thank you Lyn Murray, for an Amazing journey! I have found my new Favorite Author! I was left speechless by the end of this novel with so many thoughts just spinning around in my head. A Gripping read from start to finish that is a literal playground for the mind. I have been an avid researcher for years and have studied many of the ancient myths and beliefs that are intricately entwined throughout this entire novel so it really resonated within my mind and it completely captivated my imagination with such vividness that it was hard to escape the world she so masterfully created. Thought provoking and unforgettable to say the very least, this is one that will stay with the reader for a long time to come. You just can’t read the last page, close the book and forget it. That Won’t happen, Trust me! Chilling, terrifying and exhilarating!

I have always had a fascination with the ancient myths of the Gods, the Anunnaki, the ancient Egyptians, Sumerians and all the lore that comes along with it. I have delved deep into all the writings of some of the finest scientific minds of our times and I have seen all the conspiracy theories that pervade the internet. This novel will go to film and become classic in the vampire genre because it is so much more than that! I have a hard time classifying it in the ‘vampire genre’. This goes so much deeper…So much further…It’s a rabbit hole that will change the way you think and the way you read any future book in this genre.

Lyn Murray has a mesmerizing way of storytelling. Spinning the tale with such vivid detail, such intricate descriptions, consuming the reader with such intimate thoughts deep in the minds of the characters…so seamless…devouring all the senses of the reader with so much feeling and emotion that she pulls you into her world and you become entranced within it as if you were a witness to it’s very creation. I have read a lot of books but, this one is by far the BEST I have read in years. A lot of thought, work, and research have gone into this one and you can tell this author has left no stone unturned, in her quest for perfecting a masterpiece. I am just amazed at the amount of focus, dedication, passion and talent ‘Blooded’ is imprinted with. Ten years of dedication has really paid off Ms. Murray, Congratulations! Brilliant work!

‘Blooded’ is a delicious blend of ancient myth, modern day science, vampire lore, real events and real complex, well developed characters. It is an exhilarating read, fast paced, too scary and at times, hits too close to home. If you enjoy a lot of depth to your stories, many, many twists and turns, continuous suspense, cliffhangers at every turn, plots within plots and stories within stories and realism…omg Realism!! If you read anything this year make it this book! You won’t regret the journey even if you are chilled to the bone throughout the ride! Love it, love it, love it! I will certainly be waiting for more work from Lyn Murray….And I will buy them all!!

In Summary: A ONE OF A KIND Vampire Saga you will find nowhere else! Once you read this one all other novels of its kind will be lacking on every level. Get the book, It will finally satisfy your vampire craving =) ….well, at least until the next installment arrives *Grins*Show Less

Genius! December 30, 2013

I almost don’t know where to begin, but let me begin with WOW!
This is a great book! It is well written, comprehensive, and very entertaining. While it is a great vampire read, these are not your typical vampires, they are Anunnaki! They don’t know it, (or at least one of them doesn’t, and you never know who the other one is because Murray drives you crazy with suspense).

Because the book never comes right out and says we are dealing with the Anunnaki (but leaves you suspended over hot coals by a thin raveling thread), an informed reader begins to suspect something very unusual is going on, and begins connecting the dots just about the time the finale sweeps them off their feet, and leaves them breathless and begging for more!

Blooded (Anunnaki Rising) by Lyn Murray is an unusual take on the whole gods vs. vampires theme, and takes the reader on a expansive journey into the supernatural as this being awakens to the nature of his real identity.

If you like depth in your reads, plots within plots, living characters, backstories, humor, and fast-paste delivery with a cliffhanger on every page... this is your book! You will not be bored. Blooded (Anunnaki Rising) is a Wild Concept from start to finish, and I think it is safe to say, it is not like anything you have ever read. It is not like anything I have ever read, considering it is a novel and not some sort of ancient alien documentary or something. I cannot wait for the next two novels in the series.

If you don’t know who the Anunnaki are, do a little research before reading the book, and most definitely watch the book trailer on YouTube.

Congratulations Lyn – you blow me away!Show Less

Don't Waste Your Money! December 21, 2013

This so-called book is worth maybe 15 cents, at the most. It is the SHORTEST of short stories. It's only a very few pages long, if that. I got ripped off, when I paid 99 cents for it. I feel cheated and wish that I could demand my money back. I did not find this extremely short story frightening, either. What a rip-off! Shame on Amazon, for allowing this to be sold, at all. It should be FREE!

Wow, Quite A Read... December 17, 2013

The plot was remarkable, I was snared like a rabbit from the beginning. I couldn't have freed myself, even if I tried. Thrilling for sure, her characters were believable, so much so you wanted in some way to help them. I rate this a five star for sure. But be warned, this is a story that could keep you up at night, or at the very least, give you troubling dreams.

See Your Way to Getting This One December 15, 2013

I really liked the premise of this story but felt it needed more detail; more information about who exactly lived there and what happened to them, and more about what (could have) happened to the people who disappeared. If the story had had that, I'd have given it 5 stars.

Thrilling! December 9, 2013

What a great book! I was hooked from page one. This isn't something I normally read... but I am so glad I picked it up. The writing is great, the author has done a really good job of creating a world that you can believe really exists out there somewhere, and that's more than just a little scary!

My review is going to sound like a lot of other reviews on this book thus far, and the reason for that is that it is a fantastic book! The author has done a simply amazing job of weaving this story. The character development is outstanding, the characters are believable and enjoyable. They jump right off of the page at you and pull you into their story.

I like reading books where I feel like I actually know the characters and this one did not disappoint. The storyline flows flawlessly, and keeps you turning page after page and not wanting to put the book down for any reason. It also makes you keep the lights on and the doors locked, it's THAT realistic. I read a lot, and this is definitely one of the best books I have read in a really long time. It is well written, and the storyline is so original, I've never read anything like it. It is full of action, emotion and is one of those books that just scream, "Make me into a movie!" It's THAT good, and I would be one of the ones in line at the midnight premier. Well, maybe I wouldn't go to the midnight showing, but the first daylight showing.

Again, the character development is stellar, the storyline is crafted well and written well, and the result is a book that, as I said, had me hooked from page one. I will definitely look for and buy more books from this author.

I just cannot recommend this book highly enough. I would give it more stars if I could.Show Less

One of a Kind Vampire Read! November 14, 2013

This is an amazing, fast paced and one of a kind vampire read. My favorite part of the book was the exceptional world building that the author produced! I could see, feel, smell and almost taste every scene I read. This made the book an exhilarating read from start to finish and I truly believe this is how every vampire novel should be written. You can clearly see that the author did the research on vampire folklore from the original Bram Stokers Dracula to Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles. The book explores the vampire angle of, “What is if vampire lore is true.”

The answer of this question alone makes the story completely riveting. The characters in the novel are so in-depth that you feel like you truly known them or have known them forever! Even when I didn’t like them, I needed to know what would happen next. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to see what excitement the next page held.

The author, Lyn Murray, keeps the action and mysteries flowing through every page and you have no chance of getting bored. Every chapter ends on a mini cliffhanger, so there is no doubt that you will continue reading. Actually, you MUST read on to find out about what will happen next. Murray’s writing flows so smoothly that you don’t have to put in any effort at all into understanding what is to be said. The words almost sound like poetry.

This book is a beyond enthralling read for any vampire lover out there. I was impressed. You have to buy this book, you will not be sorry. I completely recommend it.Show Less
